Lifeguard Week
Christian camps are in constant need of professional and dedicated staff members. To help fill this need, Pine Bush Bible Camp has developed an intensive lifeguard training program. Individuals completing this program have gone on to serve the Lord at Pine Bush Bible Camp and many other Christian camps in the northeast.
Prerequisites:
• 17 Years of age• Excellent physical condition
• Strong swimming skills:
• Crawl stroke
• Breast stroke
• Treading water
• Ability to swim 550 yards without stopping
• Desire to serve at camp
About the Program
Lifeguard Week 2012 will provide the comprehensive training required by the NY State Department of Health. Certification will be provided in the following subjects:• Standard First Aid
• CPR For The Professional Rescuer
• Lifeguard Training
• Waterfront Lifeguarding
American Red Cross instructors will be on hand for Lifeguard Week 2012. They will provide nationally recognized certifications to all who complete the course requirements. Quality instruction of this kind will ensure that our lifeguards are prepared to serve the Lord in a variety of situations. Students will be educated on a number of water safety topics including:
• Emergency Action Planning
• Pool, Lake, and Waterfront Rescue
• Use of rescue equipment
• Patron Surveillance
• Spinal Injury Management
• Small Craft Safety
Additional training will also be provided in facility management topics such as:
• Water Testing
• Record Keeping
• Chemical Safety
• Risk Management
What to bring:
• Bible, Notebook, and pen• Several towels & bathing suits
• Warm clothes
• Swim goggles (optional)
• Mask, fins, & snorkel (optional)
• Books, CPR masks, and other
• Materials from previous courses
• Sunblock
• Spending money

Physical Requirements:
Lifeguard week is a physically demanding program. It is the responsibility of the participants to arrive at camp in good physical condition.
Classes will begin promptly with a brief introductory session at 9 PM on Friday June 22. Participants may arrive at camp between the hours of 7:00 PM and 9:00 PM. No meals will be served on the first night. Classes will end no later than 4 PM on Friday, June 29. Participants who are under age 18 must also bring a medical release form signed by a parent or guardian.
